Filipino Horror Movie Marathon Review 2

ITIM

Being a classic, it lacks the scare and suspense which became common in modern horror films; however, it doesn't lack the substance of a good film Rosa's spirit can't rest because her boyfriend killed the baby in her womb to keep their relationship secret which also caused her life. She possessed her sister so that the crime will be revealed and she can finally rest.

NAY

Martin was left in the care of their loving family maid when his parents migrated to Singapore. He later found out that he has a terminal illness. To save his life, his Nay Luisa turned him into an Aswang. Soon he'll have to start hunting humans for food with Nay acting as his trainor and guide. Will he choose to embrace his new life or not is the question that will be answered at the end of the film

YANGGAW

In spite of being filmed in the Visayan language, it's easy to follow what's going on in the film even without using subtitles. A peaceful and happy family's life got embroiled when Amor developed a rare kind of disease that turned her into an Aswang. Will her family continue to protect her from being discovered and killed by the people in their town when she would no longer spare even her household or will they be the ones to sacrifice her?

SIGAW

Simple but nice. Not very scary but suspenseful.Marvin bought an old unit to start living independently from his mother.  A woman started to bother him every night by knocking persistently on his door. The woman is asking for help because her husband will hurt her and their daughter. He later on discovered that they are ghosts and they've been dead for 3 years.

BARANG

The film is good and well executed. People in Sta. Barbara are  experiencing mysterious death. The neighborhood is suspecting that Barang is the culprit. The souls of those who were killed by it do not rest because they can feel the pain of the curse even in the after life; hence, they haunt the living to ask for help.

TRAGIC THEATER

The film failed to maintain a focus. It may have a good intention however, a good intention is not enough to make a plot pull through. A group of spirit channelers attempted to exorcise a theater which is believed to be haunted by the ghosts of an accident that happened during its construction. Too bad it wasn't only ghosts that haunt the place but an evil spirit as well who is unknown to the other spirits. Sure Andi Eigenmann is very pretty in this film but her lovely face has never been enough to save it from it's failing plot.
